A huge week highlighting the importance of aquatic safety has ended with Surf Life Saving NSW (SLSNSW) educating over 18,000 students across NSW in coastal and inland waterway safety.

Two rescues performed by off-duty surf lifesavers, which saved the lives of eight men from Western Sydney, were the inspiration for a new learn to swim program that was officially launched on the Australia Day long weekend in Cronulla.
Before the rigors of the academic year begin afresh new students had the opportunity to engage with the traditional orientation or “O Week”, during which the international students had the chance to meet surf lifesavers and ask any questions they had about the beach.
