Gone Fishing @ Bondi
It was great to hold our final gone fishing event at the iconic Bondi Beach! We saw the largest number of participants in attendance and we enjoyed a fun and sunny day together. We received support from Waverley Council, North Bondi SLSC and Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club which made this final "Gone Fishing @ Bondi" truly special. The event began with a welcome speech by John Restuccia, Deputy President of Surf Life Saving NSW and warm welcome messages from Paula Masselos, Mayor of Waverley and Dr Marjorie O’Neill MP, followed by professional and experienced presenter sessions.
DPI, Maritime NSW explained basic rock fishing rules and guidelines. Experienced fishermen Hadi from Team Kingies, Spyros Vasiliades from the Australian Land Based Anglers Association and Amr Sheiba shared their knowledge and experience with the audience, providing detailed insights into rock fishing skills and safety. North Bondi SLSC delivered a rescue demonstration with Police Marine Area Command (MAC) and we hope that every participant now understands just how important it is to wear a correct and well-fitted lifejacket for rock fishing safety. Impressively, many kids also attended some sessions and demonstrations with their families and we could see their enthusiasm to learn.
See you next time and enjoy Rock Fishing safely!
