Rock Fishing Safety

Dry Sand Beach Safety Sessions

These workshops are delivered at Surf Life Saving Clubs. They involves a theory presentation delivered by Volunteer Life Savers from the club or SLS NSW Staff at the venue, then participants are engaged in on-beach dry activities without them needing to get into the water. There are no age requirements and children and whole families are welcome. These sessions are particularly suited to groups new to Australia and those with limited to no experience of Australian beaches and coastlines.

What happens during a Dry Sand Beach Safety Session?

  • Beach safety theory session inside a SLS club
  • A lifesaver guided walk on the beach
  • Hazard identification session
  • Meet & greet with lifesaver patrol
  • Basic CPR session
  • Rip current identification (Dye release)
  • Lifesaving equipment introduction

Wet Water Beach Safety Sessions

These workshops are delivered at Surf Life Saving Clubs. They involves a theory presentation delivered by Volunteer Life Savers from the club or SLS NSW Staff at the venue, then participants are engaged in on-beach dry activities, ending with participants getting in the water guided by our lifesavers. These sessions are suitable for adult groups and while participants will not need to be able to swim, some experience and confidence in entering the water will be required. These sessions are particularly suited to groups new to Australia and those with limited to no experience of Australian beaches and coastlines.
