Gone Fishing @ Lake Macquarie
We were very lucky to have our 'Gone Fishing' event at Catherine Hill Bay SLSC in Lake Macquarie!
We started the day with a beautiful sunrise and had great sunny weather all day for the event. Catherine Hill Bay SLSC kindly supported this event and we enjoyed their fabulous club facilities with views over the beach and coastline. They also provided an amazing BBQ lunch for all participants!
The event started with a workshop by experienced presenters from our partner organisations and experts from DPI, Maritime NSW, Team Kingies, Spyros Vasiliades from the Australian Land Based Anglers Association and experienced fisherman Amr Sheiba.
They demonstrated rock fishing and safety gear and talked about rock fishing safety.
During the session, the lifesavers also explained rip currents and how to avoid and escape from the rip.
Kids who joined this event with their parents had a good time with our lifesavers and they went down to the beach to play.
We also saw a great rock fishing safety demonstration done by Catherine Hill Bay SLSC.
